So explain this: mammals poo for 12 seconds, pee in 20 seconds.

It takes dogs, people and elephants about the same time to excrete, despite the huge size difference

http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20170427-why-do

Call it the other Golden Rule: Scientists have found that all mammals weighing more than 2.2 pounds (a kilogram) empty their full bladders in about 20 seconds.

http://voices.nationalgeographic.com/2013/10/23/new-law-of-urination-mammals-take-21-seconds-to-pee/

Confirms, again, "If they do it, we do it. If we do it, they do it." I think somebody should do a comparative study on how long it takes mammals to have sex. (have to rule out lying about it)

as articles stating animals always face north to poop. I don't think the research included old folks or old dogs. Ask a man over 50 and I bet he will tell you it takes longer than 20 sec to pee. Everything takes longer when you are old.

It takes me forever and it always has. And that's if there's no one around. I have a shy bladder and if I can hear any other signs of life close to me sometimes I don't even bother, I'll try again later. Weird problems and TMI, I know.

I went into the bathroom to wash my hands after lunch, and the tap water was already running .....I washed my hands, turned the tap off, but when I was drying my hands I realized someone was in a stall....I recognized the shoes, new coworker, young gal.....I said, OH I'M SORRY SHELLY, did you have the water running? No reply, so I turned the water back to the pace it was on when I had come in.

Later, Shelly asked me, didn't I think that was weird? I said no, I've heard of people being pee-shy, it's no big deal. The poor thing nearly burst into tears, said she thought she was the only one. Life before the internet!

everyone has their quirks....for Shelly, I got her access to another floor where I knew there would be no one else using the bathroom, she could have it all to herself (we worked the night shift)

Now you have me intrigued - I googled, pee shy is actually Paruresis:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paruresis

it's a more serious issue than I realized - I guess I meant it was "no big deal" to me; I imagine it would be very tough to live with

And you're an extremely kind and caring soul.

Men deal with this too -- say, when I come back to the office after lunch and everyone stops to "refresh," I just go later; otherwise, I'll stand there, staring at the tile wall, hitting "dry well" while my colleagues flood the place. Always been that way, my older brother, too.

Even at home, when were in a hurry to get somewhere, many is the time I've asked my wife for a quick tap-water "prompt." That sounds vaguely obscene, but it's strictly business.

any animal grab a newspaper or some other reading material and extend that 12 seconds into five or ten minutes, which some humans do.
