(47,549 posts)I read the comic back when it was new, which was a loooong time ago, so I don't really remember if that's the way it was written.
But I can tell you that that kinda shit don't fly nowadays.

(8,760 posts)...as a character, anyone who spent as much time in such a difficult environment, from childhood to adulthood, and succeeded over other dedicated people, would come across as a substantial person. Instead, he seemed more like a silly lightweight whose hand occasionally glowed.

(56,828 posts)I remember Iron Fist mostly when he and Luke Cage (Powerman in those days, then Luke Cage: Hero for Hire) teamed up with Spider-Man or Daredevil. I wasn't a huge fan of either Iron Fist or Powerman in the comic books, so don't remember much of the backstory of either. I don't recall any pseudo Asian stuff from the comics, but I was a kid in the 70s and graduated high school in the mid 80s and kind of stopped collecting comics in the early to mid 90s, so wasn't really paying attention. I probably just went, "oh, cool, kung fu"

(233 posts)At least pick some one that knows something about martial arts so that your fight scenes aren't an embarrassment. The other three cast for the other series were awesome.

(63,200 posts)I had forgotten that Sigourney Weaver is the villain, and I loves some Sigourney Weaver, so I can't wait to see what she does with it.

(56,828 posts)just really suffered in comparison to three excellent predecessors in Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. I am not really one to judge the expertise level in fight scenes in movies or on TV - I didn't think the fight scenes in Jessica Jones were great, either, and her super strength abilities were seemingly limited to jumping high and breaking padlocks and chains most of the time. (But, JJ had an awesome villain in David Tennant)
Iron First, and Daredevil Season 2 somewhat, IMO, also suffered from The Hand as villains. So far, The Hand have seemed like mostly easily disposable bad guys dressed up as ninjas... I was expecting a bit more from them.

(63,200 posts)But I really, really, REALLY hated Finn in the role. Every time he was on camera I found myself thinking "I wish that this was The Colleen Wing Show."
Colleen and Misty Knight in a Daughters of the Dragon show. They're both well cast and I think it would be a great dynamic and could play with a bit of comic history.

(56,828 posts)A lot of times, movies get messed up with too many heroes and/or villains in them (I'm looking at you Spider-Man 3 and Batman 2, 3 and 4) However, with 13 hour long episodes, it should work well.
Hopefully the Hand can become more than a bunch of disposable sneaky guys.
will wait until multiple shows are out and i see more reviews to reup with netflix
