I went over to that site to see about getting gifts for my mom and grandma for this Mother's Day. I figured it would be convenient and easy. I found a coupon online for 20% off your entire order. I went to proflowers and picked out a couple of nice bouquets that each also came with a small box of chocolates. Total price for both with the discount about $63.
So they sent me to a page to get my payment information and delivery addresses. I enter my credit card number and the addresses and hit the button to proceed thinking it's a done deal. On the next page, after they have all of my payment information, they hit me with the real cost. They added $13 shipping a piece plus several other smaller charges. The new total was about $102!
I know mom and grandma are worth it, but I'm going to shop locally. It might not have been a problem if they hadn't tried to sneak it in on me like that and led me to believe I was going to pay $40 less than I actually was.

And I sure hope things are going well, otherwise, dear Tobin.

(22,048 posts)I'd used them before without a problem. Last year, I ordered flowers for Mom's Day, and they delivered them a week later. AND with the big shipping costs. This year, I ordered a beautiful little "tea for one" set, and big tea sampler from Amazon. Free shipping, and will last a lot longer than flowers.

(7,754 posts)My Mom and Gram are gone and my aunts are very elderly so I go to an FTD site. They have nice sweet old fashioned arrangements.

(2,396 posts)Ya have to be watchful since the first few ads on the results page will try to fake you out.
Top Ten Yelp florists in that town may come up . I think there's a florist association page with results that comes up too.
Besides giving the local florist/small business all the money without a middleman cut taken out, they sometimes have local specials or extras not available through the corporate sites.
Also the flowers aren't shipped in a box like some sites!
