Don't buy WW2 weapons at flea markets.

German police have arrested a 51-year-old man after a crate of grenades from World War Two blew up in his garage.

Police were called to the address in Hennef, western Germany, on Monday after an explosion was reported.

Firefighters arrived to find the man's garage in flames and more ammunition went off as they tried to put it out.

The owner, a private collector, said he had bought the munitions at a flea market.

And we've all heard about the large swaths of French countryside that'll be dangerously unsafe for centuries to come thanks to WWI explosives.

Pretty amazing to think about!

Hubby worked munition maintenance for 20 years. He has a few thoughts on the subject

1. The millionth can kill you just as dead as the first.

2. They don't give a damn who you are, so they don't stop in mid flight or count down.

3. They tend to have an indefinite life span.

4. If you see me running, get out of my way.

Mine: There are reckless ammo men and there are old ammo men. There are no reckless old ammo men.

I've had it for decades, it now props up my miniature Green Bay Packer helmet.

It's solid, I'd never get anything with explosives still in it.
