I love ALL of Wilie's songs, but I guess my 3 favorites are:
- "Crazy" (which was a huge hit for Patsy Cline).
- "On The Road Again"
- "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die"

Interview aired on CBS yesterday. Funny: Despondent not making it in Nashville back when and laid in the street to be run over. He replied to the interviewer: "Well, it was midnight so there wasn't much traffic."
His wife of 30 years said, "All the others broke him in."

(322 posts)I love the positive attitude, optimism and joy. Willie is one of those people that most everyone really likes and I'm no exception.

(1,642 posts)He guest starred on Miami Vice in one episode as an elderly, out-for-revenge Texas Ranger. It was one of Vice's best episodes. Willie showed he's got acting chops.

(12,132 posts)and I do mean all the classics that everyone knows from longtime radio play plus all the classics that are just older but I heard a lot when my dad would play Willie records - a fairly recent fave is Hesitation Blues by Willie and the Wheel (Asleep at the Wheel) with an assist from the world's most dangerous band...
and this is where I first heard it:
I also love Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain but it makes me cry when I hear it

(12,132 posts)Yeah, completely obvious bragging I just got tickets in the orchestra center, 8 rows from the stage. I was gonna try and wait for the regular tix to go on sale Friday but that would have been 2 days of presale selling all the good seats. So I joined the fan club and paid extra and now I can just breathe easy and wait for Willie.
Venue is brand new performing arts center here, about 2700 seat venue.
