made me laugh out loud and her studied reaction, priceless.

I talked with religionists this week at my table in the front yard on Sunday, my church service , about the 'phobias' they enjoy and my words were, as long as they love each other and are not hurting each other or others, they have a right to love who they please...without judgement on my part. They said well.....I am not going to hate them, but I don't have to like their 'sin', the bible....ect ect, ect, which gave me an in to the subject of sin and being born in sin et al....god!!!! I have fun with these types. Got a good hour out of them before they made their excuses and left......

A friend of mine returned to college in his mid-20s (he had gotten an associates degree right out of high school). He's fairly religious while at the same time being naive and rebellious. He wanted to be a youth minister so he picked Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO (Falwell's alma mater) without really looking into the place too much. I visited him one long weekend starting Thursday night, and I attended classes with him on Friday, including a Spanish class, which was one of my degrees. The class was divided up into groups to work on something, and our group finished quickly thanks to me, and one of his classmates decided to chat me up.

So, where did you go to college?
Pittsburg State and then did some grad work at Oklahoma State
Ah, OSU. Stillwater. Eskimo Joe's.
Sounds like you know it pretty well.
Yeah, I'm from Tulsa, and we would go there in high school if they were having an interesting band play there.
I'm in Tulsa now.
Oh? What church do you go to?
(Not thinking, completely forgetting where I am) I don't go to church. I prefer sleeping in on Sundays.
(He's shocked but recovers, and it's dawning on me what I just did) Well, if you're interested, there's a church at 101st and...
That was your church, wasn't it?
Yeah, but...
(Me realizing how to end the conversation) Actually, I guess I do attend church sometime. I go to St. Francis de Guadalupe (a Spanish speaking Catholic church) to practice my Spanish listening skills every now and then.
Ah... Okay. (Quickly turns to talk to someone else. My friend is trying not to laugh)

My friend was very impressed that I thought quickly enough to use conservative Baptists' distaste for Catholicism to extricate myself from the conversation.
