I'm 39 and I've got it better right now than at any point earlier in my life. I realize that a lot of people still consider 39 young, but many people I've run across consider their late teens and twenties as the best period in their lives- they were the worst for me. Maybe I'm a special case, but if I were running around at 40 thinking that my best days were over 10 years ago I'd be inspired to make some changes now.

I am one stubborn sumbitch, and I'll go down swinging before I ever stop believing that the best is yet to be...and I am far from a young man now.

There have been fat times and fallow in my life, and I take from each of them the same lesson.

Spit in their eye.

but visited a dear high school friend recently, renewed our 'best friends' times, and hope to be able to spend more time with her, regularly, so that part remains alive. (Unfortunately she lives in Denver and I near DC.)
Do have grand-children likely in the future, and understand that may provide 'good things,' and Dad's 98.
