and I surprised myself by knowing at least 90% of those songs...

Many of the older ones I actually learned in school (one of which is my home state's official song) or my dad played them on our old stereo.

I'm admittedly not a fan of the rap takeover in the later years (with a few exceptions)... Adele was a nice exception to the "end of melody" era.

...(six if you count Lennon solo), two by Rolling Stones, two by Bing Crosby. Didn't notice anybody else having more than one.

I would, however, take issue with 1997. In that year, Elton John's Goodbye English Rose tribute to Princess Diana surpassed White Christmas to become the biggest-selling recording in music history.

Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and Benny Goodman did at least two each.

It was interesting to see how music reflected history.

And that two of my all-time favorite musical pieces were in there: the Blue Danube Waltz and Sing Sing Sing. 1812 Overture and Scott Joplin pieces are close behind.
