Huge grasshopper infestation this year in my area (So Az)

I'll bet I have a million hoppers on my land. They have eaten everything.
They have stripped even the mesquite trees of their leaves.
I walk down one of my paths and thousands fly out of the way.
It's apocryphal.

We only have cicadas, they don't eat the trees, just sit in them and scream VERY loudly.
I'm not sure which is worse...

remove the legs, wings, head, and exoskeleton, then marinate the meat in lime and chiles and fry. OK, I've never actually done this myself, but I've had grasshoppers prepared this way in a Oaxacan restaurant ("Just like my mom makes them", the waiter said).

apricot tree had no leaves to drop in the fall, and they ate all the leaves of my little dwarf peach, AND the peaches - poor bald tree with three or four seeds hanging from bare stems!

don't leave your laundry hanging out too long - they will eat that too!
