I just got out of the hospital ( well, the rehab facility) not long ago. I went in for surgery on my back in August. My back hurt and sometimes I got down in my back real bad, but I could get around pretty good - sometimes with the use of a cane or walking stick, but I didn't have to stay inside. I could drive and stuff.
Now I am either using a walker or my ass is on the floor. A wheelchair for any extensive jaunts I have panned, like a trip to the mailbox.
Well, anyway I am sitting here pondering imponderables like:
1. What would I be listening to right now if I wasn't listening to this goddamn ringing in my ears?
2. Is it farther to Houston or by bus?
3. Why is there air?
4. If you could have chosen whether or not to be born would you?
5. Is there anybody there?
and of course there is the imponderest imponderable of them all:
6. What is the average air speed of an un-laden swallow?

2. Not enough information.
3. Gravity.
4. Good question- The jury is still out.
5. Yes.
6. Not sure but greater than a laden swallow.
Best of luck with your recovery. 🙂

The sweet sounds of silence.
2. Is it farther to Houston or by bus?
Frankly, neither a good option.
3. Why is there air?
Gravity and sequestration.
4. If you could have chosen whether or not to be born would you?
Absolutely, only get to do this once. Experience it all, the good, the bad, the ugly.
5. Is there anybody there?
Yes and we all wish you a speedy and full recovery.

6. What is the average airspeed of an unladen swallow?
WHAT? African or European Swallow?

1) I too have ringing in my ears. I have ever since high school. During my graduation week I went to a concert at school and was close to on of the speakers. Later that week I was at a bar all night celebrating grad and, again, the music was almost deafeningly loud. For a couple of days afterwards, I my ears were ringing and I felt like I was listening to people speak underwater. It gradually got better but the ringing never went away entirely. Some days it bothers the hell out of me. Other times I forget it exists.
2) Might be worth a trip to Houston if you're a baseball fan. Those Astros are looking like the real deal. I feel sorry for the city otherwise, having been hit hard by hurricane Harvey a couple of months ago.
3) I'm not scientifically educated enough to know the answer to that, but I'm grateful air does exist. Sitting here typing this would be much more challenging if I was oxygen deprived.
4) Depends what day you ask me. I think I'd say yes more often, but there are times when things are tough and I have second thoughts. Things generally get better though. Sometimes it takes longer than I'd like, but there's usually relief/joy to be found somewhere down the road.
5) If you're delving into existential philosophy, you're asking the wrong person! Otherwise, yes, I'm pretty darn sure I'm here.
6) Oh, you're a Monty Python fan...
Be well, Ashling. If not physically, then know you're among friends here.
