(23,637 posts)Three very quick and smart contestants. Manny was pretty self assured and it burned him in the end. But glad it worked out for your daughter. Smart and very poised.

(30,730 posts)$1.00 that still left him as the returning champion threw him for a loop. No one can remember a win of $1.00 that resulted in the contestant being the returning champion! His Final Jeopardy bet in the game with Joanna was strange.
My husband thought he was trying to recoup his loss from the previous game. The amount he bet was the same, or close to the same amount he had just lost.
Manny was very tired. They tape three days a week and they tape five shows a day. He had been playing since early morning. It is fun, but it is a very high pressure situation.
Joanna bet the way she did because she wanted to hear Johnny Gilbert roll the amount out in his impressive announcer's voice: $9,999.00. Johnny Gilbert is in his nineties and he still sounds so great. He just won an award from the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest tenure as announcer on the same game show.
Joanna is poised. I think it comes from her years as a professional musician. She is used to performing in front of an audience.
I felt my stomach drop to my toes when she made her come from behind win.

(2,404 posts)I first read about Sianis & Murphy when I was eight. Never thought the day would come!
I could not stop screaming and jumping up and down and crying. Kids thought I'd gone insane.
They need to take it again this year. That way people won't say it's a fluke, and they deserve it. They've waited so long and endured a lot of jokes and humiliation.
Dodgers haven't won since '88, though, so LA's pretty stoked.

(30,730 posts)in today's world. My daughter's Jeopardy appearance and the Cubs' win have been a welcome distraction for me. I feel like a weight has been lifted, at least temporarily.
The Jeopardy shows Joanna appeared on taped in August. We went to L.A. for the taping. It was great fun. I have had to keep quiet about this for a while.

(2,404 posts)proud you are of her! It's something to brag about for sure.
I can't wait for tomorrow's game.

(17,300 posts)and, naturally, there are some comments from readers who are bummed that the news coverage "spoiled" the program for them. Good article though!
I'm happy for you and yours, muriel. A win for the librarians of the world!
