WOODBINE – A construction worker was flown to Omaha by LifeNet helicoper Monday after being run over while working on a manhole along 13th Street in Woodbine.

The accident remains under investigation, said Jon Gale with the Woodbine Police Department. According to his preliminary investigation, Gale said two employees of Carley Construction working by the manhole by the house at 19 13th St. One worker was inside the manhole, and another was lying in the street next to it.

There were no barricades or orange cones put out to warn people of workers in the area, Gale said. A postal delivery driver did not see the workers and ran over the man in the street.

The man was transported to the LifeNet helicopter, which was parked at the Woodbine Airport, by the Woodbine Rescue Squad and taken to an Omaha hospital.

Gale didn’t release the man’s name or the extent of his injuries.
