Here'a a piece I did back in 1986, gave it to some friends as a gift...

...got it back 20+ years later, and since then, have repaired and revised it.

Called "EEE Box," it is airbrush acrylic on canvas and mixed-media assemblage containing two "portable" art pieces and 15 miniature digital prints of various paintings I made, along with a CD which will feature music I have played on/produced from 1980s-2019. I am in the process now of updating the audio for the CD. I will post below the images links to some of the music that will be on the updated CD.

When it's all done, I will be returning it to my friends.

1. This is fantastic!

Your art is so diverse and esoteric. There’s simply no way to categorize it. At least not for me. It looks like you just took everything as far as it would go and incorporation various techniques. I guess you could say they’re mixed media collages, but some of it is also utilitarian to boot.

It’s wonderful to see this kind of different art where you don’t follow the rules and come up with beautiful and puzzling pieces. There’s a lot of very fine work on some of the details and you use color very well indeed. What a treat for the eyes and the brain and mind. Your pieces make me think and question their genesis and development. You seem to have quite a variety of talents so it looks like there is more than one artist involved. It’s mind blowing!

...as a 3rd Year Art School Dropout, I never thought I would amount to much in the fine art world (I did get straight As in color theory, though!)

So, because of that, I have worked since 1976 producing art on tee shirts and all manner of garments and other things like tote bags banners, movie/tv show costumes etc...using airbrush, hand painting, "sponge" printing, silkscreen, direct to garment (dtg) digital printing...which is how I've been able to survive since art school.

But on the side, I do this other shit - "art & music" - I don't know your musical tastes, but I'd sure like to get your feedback on a tune or two!

3. I don't really know that much about music

I like a wide variety but unfortunately I’m partially deaf so I miss some of the more nuanced sounds. I don’t really know what I miss but I’ve heard people talk about it and I know I missed something. I do enjoy it and I get much out of what I hear.

What I hear in my right ear sounds like there’s a filter that absorbs the sound. It’s like holding a glass over my ear. Sound is muffled.

I never had any luck with my art, and like you, I majored in art in college. I’ve sold things that were commissioned and did some commercial art with video games before everything could be generated electronically. Doing the art wasn’t bad at all but dealing with getting paid was a nightmare. If I had been a bit more of a business woman I could have dealt with it, but, unfortunately I’m really lousy at it.

4. I understand...I enjoy your critiques, they're very insightful...

...but get that the audio is a different situation for you.

As far as "luck with art" goes, I gotta admit, I never really pushed it. I've had stuff in galleries and group shows on occasion, sold a coupla pieces here and there, but never pushed it to the point where it could be a viable means of economic survival.

And, yeah, the business part of it is a major problem for me, too.

Plus, doing the economically necessary stuff becomes a hindrance to producing the artistic stuff!
