This is done in his more "traditional" style of rendering of what he calls "Lucha Squids."

Called Birdbrain, it is a digitally altered photograph of a bird dropping.

4. Germs is great, so I've thought for about 17 years now...

...plus he's a great person. He came over to my place today to help move a bunch of stuff out of a Victorian era 2-car garage which I'm converting into a (mostly) Germs mini-gallery and office/studio. He brought that painting with him to show to me. It's still here.

He's got a real solid base of collectors (besides me), he has done several museum shows, and will be in the permanent collection of Cheech Marin's Chicano Art Museum when it opens.

The car painting (Love Gasoline) and the Bird Brain were done by me.

...Love Gasoline sold to somebody at a charity auction for the Sierra Madre CA Public Library. I didn't have room for it in my house, so I donated it to the auction. I don't know who bought it though.

I'll dig up some other stuff and post it here, in this sub-thread.

...with my prehensile tail.

True story.

I no longer do that, as I had the tail removed several years ago.

I dropped off the entire single-use cardboard camera containing both to be developed at the local FotoShack in 2005, and when I went back in 2007, the place had become a SooshiShack, drive-thru sushi. They were using my Peaquarium picture on the front of the menu.

I love peaquarium. It has magic. You have incredible talent. Do you still paint?

I started taking painting lessons from a local artist a few years ago. I love painting my friends cats and dogs. Your cat paintings are beautiful and really motivate me.

...I don't do much painting these days. One reason being, I don't really have enough space for a proper studio, another being I use up a lot of time doing tee shirt and garment silkscreen/airbrush/hand painting pre-production work for a company in L.A. - although I've been working from home since before the pandemic, which saves a lot of time and aggravation from driving back and forth every day.

I'm also going to start a recording project as soon as I get the music tracks from my collaborator, which will consume a lot of time until completion.

Anyway, I'm happy to know my cat pictures are a motivation to you, keep painting!

13. I love your cats and peaquarium!

They are very colorful and have an element of mysteriousness so typical of cats. My cat gets a wild eyed look where he opens his eyes wide, like in alarm just before he dashes off somewhere mysterious in the house. He does it to elicit a surprised gasp from me. Sometimes I mess with him by gasping, eliciting that surprised reaction out of him. He and I understand each other pretty well. We take turns being surprised at each other.

...we got our current cat from a shelter about 4 years ago. She's a 14 y.o. polydactyl calico with diabetes and hyperthyroidism, so she mostly lays around/sleeps a lot.

BTW, I should make it to the Post Office on Saturday, at least that's my plan. I'll send a DU mail with a tracking number when I get it.
