1. One of our family Christmas traditions

is to watch Holiday Inn (on DVD -- it's too hard to get everyone together on TCM's schedule). It's greatly superior to White Christmas!

2. I have two Christmas classics I always watch

Miracle on 34th Street (1947) and a small independent called The Silent Partner (1978). The Silent Partner is hardly a "Christmas" film, but half of it does take place over Christmas, and it's one of the finest thrillers made in the late 1970s. I had to purchase both from iTunes -- they rarely if never show up on broadcast or cable anymore.

Very much appreciate Fred Astaire, especially in Holiday Inn, but I've never been a fan of Bing Crosby.

3. Miracle on 34th Street frequently shows up on TCM this time of year,

and I try to catch it every time. Little Natalie Wood is adorable, and even at that age, a good actor.

But I've never heard of The Silent Partner. After reading about it on IMDB, I'll have to try to find it!

The Silent Partner is dated by now. I first saw it on HBO in the early 1980s when it was still very new and it blew me away. The broadcast version is censored -- look for the DVD, or stream it, to see it in it's original "R" rated glory.
