Paul Hindemith - Symphonic Metamorphosis - Turandot

Conducted by the composer himself...

Just enough dissonance to establish modern bona fides, but still a traditional orchestral tour de force. IMO, Hindemith is a worthy successor to Bach in his adroit use of counterpoint.

Too infrequently played but important in the foundations of many newer composers and artists. I left out Mahler, etc.....
