What is your current quilting project

I just finished making a red and white top like the one shown in the picture, except I used solid red for the sashing around the red work blocks. I alternated the blocks with a red and white print nine patch block. The blocks are 7.5 inches with 1/4 seam allowance all around. The red work blocks are from the Redwork Renaissance line. It was an easy top to make. I have taken it to the quilt shop to be quilted. I saw the quilt on Pinterest and since I had plenty of red and white prints, decided to have a go at it.

Hand quilting my second embroidery quilt, trying to decide on my next quilt top project. Probably another red and white quilt since I still have plenty of fabrics.

Please share your current quilting projects with all us quilting addicts.

Quilting is a wonderful hobby for me. The creativity of the design phase and the relaxation of the hand quilting 😀

3. My next quilting project - What is yours?

I found this image on Pinterest and was able to download the free PDF for the project. I like the blue and browns so much, I am going to make one similar to the image, but a full size quilt. I have always wanted to make a schoolhouse quilt, but the block has too many parts for me. This one has less pieces and the instructions are easy. Plus it uses 2 1/2" strips for many of the pieces and the strips are sold precut. I am going to cut out one block and sew together tonight. I'll find out if it as is as easy as it looks.

I made my first pattern, wasn't too pleased with it, too tall and narrow. I whacked it some before sewing the 3 sections together. The test block measures 7 1/4" wide by 8 1/2 tall. I am going to make the block 8 x 8. Need to make the roof wider, bottom narrower and the door higher. I am going to use blue predominate with gold, brown olive and grey. All scrappy looking. Making the blocks in 3 sections, chimney section, roof section and the door and window section. Then sew the blocks together, so the prints won't be so matchy, matchy.

Here is pic of my first try, wish I hadn't used checkerboard.

5. Update in My quilting Project

I took a few weeks off my quilt making, but now I am at it again, I need 42 blocks for the quilt, so far I have made 21. Half-way done -Yea! After making quite a few, I decided there was too much blue, so worked in some brown, tan, gold and olive. I am sashing the blocks using different white on white fabrics. I think I will have sashing about 1 inch around each block which will give me two inches between each house. I figure it will take me 3 or 4 weeks to finish the top. I only quilt 3 or 4 nights a week, then just a few hours.

Anyone else have a quilting project to share?

sewing the blocks together right now. I think I am going to run out of the white on cream fabric that I used for sashing, need to go to the quilt shop and get some more, also need the batting. Hope to be finished by the end of the week, will post a pic then.

Wish someone else would post their quilting projects.

I'm really enjoying seeing your progress. I have no patience for something that size. A pillow or baby quilt is my limit. I'm not working on anything for awhile because my sewing room is a cluttered mess. Once I straighten that out I'll try something. Thanks for sharing.
