1. Go to a craft fair.
Our local fair had a big building displaying all kinds of artsy crafty stuff. While I'm not very creative, there were lots of projects that caught my attention. I bought two a painting kit, it's just paint by number, but you apply some sort of stuff that blends the colors better so it looks like the painter had some skills. LOL We'll see!
Anyway, I felt inspired enough to browse around a craft store, and I had no idea what I was getting into, it was overwhelming. They have lots of classes and I might go learn to make a holiday wreath. |

2. I get the same way sometimes
I know it’s a lame excuse, but sometimes all the bad news you hear kind of gets depressing and sucks all the ambition and creativity right out of a person.
I find that going to an art museum lifts my spirits and inspires me. I am really lucky there’s a world class museum of American Art about 10 minutes from my house, and admission is free. Good luck! I need to rake my own advice soon, as well! ![]() |

4. Find a craft-along
Depending on the craft, Ravelry and Instagram are full of craft-alongs that might interest you.
If you’re into yarn crafts and Harry Potter, you can participate in a very friendly competition on Ravelry for the House Cup. There are classes with assignments (“craft something that’s either red or shaped like a triangle,” for instance), and you can participate with as little as a tiny blanket square each month. Quilters tend to hang out on Instagram, and there are all sorts of quilt-alongs happening there. I’ve found it helpful to work on projects along with other people, either online or in person. It might be worth a try, if only start something new and exciting. |

10. The internet can be a dark place
I’ve found so many wonderful spaces online that have helped me through some tough times.
Craftwork is cheaper than therapy and almost as effective. Have fun with whatever you choose to craft along with. ![]() |

11. Cheaper than therapy...
Is the line I always use when people I’ve known forever wonder how I’ve come to suddenly have my own workshop! I get more peace from crafting or writing, and you’re right! Much cheaper! 😊

5. Nodding my head to that, I have the same problem.
I have multiple projects going on at once. I will work a week or two on one then go to a different one for a week or two and continue that process. I do it for two reasons, my hands and so I (hopefully) don't get bored with any of them but sometimes that fails bigtime.
When I hit that slump I usually hit the craft store for something never done before that is only a one time expense in case you don't enjoy it. |

8. I like to have more than one project going at once.
I get tired of one project and switch to other. I am almost done with two family history quilts. I ordered some fabric to put two rows of sashing around edges, then ready to take them to the quilt shop to be quilted.
Then I am going to do a little jewelry work, making jewelry is always my fall-back. The International Gem and Bead show will be here in Dallas this coming weekend. This is my favorite bead show and I am always inspired by going to this show. |

6. Sometimes just committing yourself to 15 minutes of starting a project helps.
Maybe find inspiration here:
