Working on a baby blanket for a shower on Nov 13.

Right now I am practicing the stitch pattern on some junk yarn. The stitch is called Sober Granny. It is similar to Drunken Granny; the stitch sequence is a bit smaller.

Fortunately, baby blankets work up really fast.

I am making the blanket in pink and gray. This is a rather popular color combination this year. This future mom and another one have both chosen this as a color theme.

There is a third blanket, for a boy. He is also the 3rd baby for this family so I wanted to make something just for him. Looking for good color combo for a baby boy, and a good stitch/pattern.

There are so many designs! Thanks to You Tube I have found so many that are new to me.

yarns. I love that kind of yarn.

After discussion with my daughter and the mother of the new mom I decided to make it larger than a baby blanket. My daughter said she got a lot of blankets but many of them were too small after just a few months.

So this one is large enough that the mom can snuggle with the baby in it, use it as a coverlet on the bed she grows into after crib days are over, drape over a chair etc . If I have enough yarn left I may make one for the carseat.

I used Painbox yarn which is very reasonably price; I ordered it from Lovecraft. The ladies who do the video tutorials really praised this yarn so I thought I would give it a try. I love this yarn!! It comes in 56 colors in the acrylic version.

For my boy baby blanket I am thinking of a shaded blue ombre or a cake yarn with a lot of different blues I am not thinking about those two blankets right away.

I am working on another one with this yarn; the stitch is a larksfoot.

I love learning a new stitch. I got bored doing just granny stitches

This one is a rectangular granny also with Bernat Pop I don't remember the name of the colorway though
