Bootinup is killing it lately, posting a band I really respect and enjoy...

DEVO.

I keep reading folks saying they don't "get" DEVO but musically they fit right in to the 60s-80s North Ohio music scene and philosophically they were just punks railing against the death of individual freedom and autonomy.

Punks with Art degrees - Much like the Talking Heads.

But they sound so WEIRD people say. Well no, not really.

There's a Mark Mothersbaugh art exhibit traveling around. We saw it in Minneapolis a couple of years ago. It's pretty interesting. They have some early Devo footage. Also, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has a room dedicated to music from Northeast Ohio.
