(13,188 posts)Other than pictures of Nipples, this was my favorite internet thing back in the early days (91ish)
downloading this and other looney tune cartoon clips on a dial up connection, over night and hoping my complier didn't lock up while I slept.
I'm pretty sure I was downloading UPHILL IN THE SNOW as well..
Thanx for the memory

(11,795 posts)The Bugs Bunny clan are my favorite cartoons hands down. Disney can suck it!

(31,987 posts)Other than a few "Goofy over Football" cartoons and the like .... I never really liked Disney cartoons. And when I was a kid, you'd be accused of being a Communist or something if you said you didn't like Disney! Gimme Looney Tunes and Rocky and Bullwinkle any day.

(33,643 posts)Interesting bit of historical trivia ... the difference between Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies was that Merrie Melodies features had a LOT less talking, and a lot more music. The whole 'point' of Merrie Melodies features was to sell Warner Bros' large catalog of sheet music that they owned and published. Sheet Music at the time was a very profitable product (kinda like Greeting Cards have always been), and WB had recently purchased copyrights to a TON of music ... and the MM cartoons were made to 'feature' various musical compositions they owned, to entice buyers.

I wonder what it was like working with all those crazies who made Looney Tunes for us to enjoy. What a joy to go to work every day to a job like that, huh? You'd have sore sides from laughing hard all day long!

(33,643 posts)Well, Mel was still a friggin genius, regardless ...
Also ... Denny does a pretty good imitation of Mel.
Probably a better 'singer', I'd guess.

Apparently he was in a terrible car crash in 1961, ended up in coma for 2 weeks with triple skull fracture. Happened at a place called "Dead Man's Curve" in Hollywood. He later sued the City and they ended up restructuring the roads in the area as a result.
At the time of the accident, Blanc was also serving as the voice of Barney Rubble in The Flintstones. His absence from the show was relatively brief; Daws Butler provided the voice of Barney for a few episodes, after which the show's producers set up recording equipment in Blanc's hospital room and later at his home to allow him to work from there. Some of the recordings were made while he was in full-body cast as he lay flat on his back with the other Flintstones co-stars gathered around him.[23]

(33,643 posts)From his Wiki, Mel Blanc voiced the following characters:
"Bugs Bunny
Daffy Duck
Porky Pig
Tweety Bird
Sylvester the Cat
Yosemite Sam
Foghorn Leghorn
Marvin the Martian
Pepé Le Pew
Speedy Gonzales
Wile E. Coyote
Road Runner
The Tasmanian Devil
and many of the other characters from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical cartoons during the golden age of American animation. He voiced all of the major male Warner Bros. cartoon characters except for Elmer Fudd, whose voice was provided by fellow radio personality Arthur Q. Bryan, although Blanc later voiced Fudd as well after Bryan's death"
Also ... Barney Rubble, among others.
That's just ridiculous ...
