So, I think it was 2012-ish, I wanna say? Clockwork Angels tour ...
I get a call on Saturday afternoon, my office mate says 'Hey man, what are you doing tonight?' and I'm all 'Not much, you?' and he (who, interestingly, is now a she), says to me 'well, how'd you like to go to Rush tonight?' and I'm like 'How much?' and he goes 'Nothing, dude, I got an extra ticket, one of my buddies flaked' and I'm all "PFFFFFT ... Uhhhh ... OKAY!"
So we go, right? US Airways Center in Phoenix, our seats are 3rd deck, pretty much the cheap seats but I'm like whatever, free Rush ticket (I of course bought his drinks that night, let me be clear!)
Anyways, we were out on the Concourse of the 3rd level, grabbing drinks, and this dude comes up to us with like 'credentials' on the lanyard around his neck, it was like a 'Rush 2012 Tour' laminate and shit, and he asks us 'So, just you 3 here tonight?' and we go 'Yeah?' ... wondering what's up ... and he goes 'You guys big Rush fans?' and we go 'Pfft ... YAH!', and he goes 'I tell you what, i got 3 extra tickets for the 7th row down on the floor, right in the middle, you guys interested?' and we go 'Well ... sure, but ... how much are we talking?' and he's goes 'Nothing, I'm working for the Tour, and we're just looking to hook up some fans ... so, you guys want these floor seats?'
Needless to say ... OF COURSE WE DID. And they were exactly what the dude said. We waltzed down among people that'd spent like $750/each for their seats, and watched from the 7th row, floor, center ...
And for ME?!? ALL FREE!
Man that was an awesome sequence of events. One of my best concert memories ever. And they rocked the place!
On Edit: Actually, I lied ... just found my ticket ... it was 4th row, not 7th

(33,643 posts)And nothing like that ever happened. Never even HEARD of that happening to anyone.
Can't even tell you how cool it was how all that went down. Felt like I'd 'paid my dues' buying and attending so many shows my whole life ... and the universe rewarded me. Pretty damn cool.
