Because there was so much difficulty getting the artists, to the stage, Santana had to go on hours before he was scheduled. He was basically an hour into a handful of Peyote. Promoters approach him and are like, you're going on now or not at all. Fuck! By the time this song hit, his guitar had turned into a snake or a dragon, I don't remember which. The only way he could keep it from eating him alive was to play the shit out of it!

Can you imagine that kinda pressure? Ridiculously huge crowd, gotta go on before you're mentally prepared, tripping balls, and your guitar wants to eat you. That solo is one of the greatest feats in rock history if you take all that into account.
