They released a DVD containing the full episodes of the Sullivan show. If you want to get an idea of how much they changed everything, just watch them. Every other act is so boring, you wonder why people tuned in to the show on other nights.

Is the basic recipe for a rock and roll band - I always liked when the Beatles played rock tunes.

I get that they changed how music was made and transformed studio processes yada yada yada.

But occasionally they'd just plug in and play - and guess what? They were great at it.

Howard Goodhall is a senior Classical Composer. In this program he explains just how good and significant the Beatles really were - He compares them to Beethoven and Wagner.

It’s a entertaining program well worth a look.

ADDENDUM- Watching it again, it’s a bit clunky and school masterly - but ultimately Goodhall argues, with success, the Beatles were extraordinary -,they changed music forever.
