2. The closer, IIRC ... great tune great album ... All IRS R.E.M. is freaking GODHEAD there's not 1 bad

song on the entire 5 albums and E.P. ... well ... okay I'm not a fan of Auctioneer on Fables, but that's really the only song I skip.

I even love most of Dead Letter Office, but there's a few on there I skip ... that CD doesn't count tho ... it's gravy.

There's not been a lot of bands who came out with killer debut album while hewing to a style that was totally their own, where you couldn't really go 'yeah, but they sound like XYX' at all.

Funny most of the other bands I'd say that about ... came out pretty close to the same time (1982). To whit: Talking Heads, The Police, The Cure, U2, The Smiths ...

I'm excluding 60's/Early 70's bands of course ... rock was much younger then.
