Of course, I also think SRV is probably the best guitarist ever. What's remarkable about Jimi's version is that it was groundbreaking at the time.

(23,090 posts)9. I was married to a musician years ago and he said Hendrix played bad notes a lot.
SRV is the fire to Derek Trucks ice - both were/are technically near perfect. However, when I say SRV is best, that's really IMO and for my taste. I also love Beck, Allman & Van Halen, 3 other great masters of the guitar, all with very different styles.. I'd probably rank Hendrix 5th on that list because of his groundbreaking style and inventiveness. But again, that's just my personal list. Trucks is definitely a master technician, but I like a little more fire and emotion. When he's playing with his wife, she provides that element so they too have a great sound.
