(4,305 posts)It draws me in. It makes me feel.
you can hear his pain and his love when he sings and then when he plays lead the same thing. He is not the best player, the fastest, most technical. But you can hear the feeling big time on both singing and playing.
Ferrets are Cool
(21,103 posts)when I saw him in concert, it was the most boring concert that I've ever experienced. I may as well have stayed home and listened to a cd. No emotion at all.
The Polack MSgt
(13,182 posts)I saw him in the early 90s in a festival in (I think) Mesquite TX with Buddy Guy and the Fabulous Thunderbirds and he looked overwhelmed.
Not a good show, but he was new and was in the process of getting shown up by the band before him and the legend who came next. So maybe not a fair assesment
The next time I saw him was 99 with the Memphis horns in a theater and he was great.
The past 2 times I saw him he was good, but not as good as his best.
But he is on my list of "always go see" artists because when he's on - he is fanatastic, and when he isn't on, he's really good.
