He gave me this long history of workers' protests against copper mining in Arizona, and how much the Wobblies influenced early state politics. I'm not even sure how it came up, and having lived in Arizona for 40 years, I was kinda surprised that there would be such a left-wing history to the state!
Dude is seriously smart - he holds a PHD in Math from UCLA - and he talks nonstop!
My favorite quote of the interview...

"Homer didn't write the Illiad. Every minstrel in Ionia was singing that damn song for 700 years. But then he came up with 'rosy-fingered dawn' and everyone loved it. Cause it's a fucking great line."

Regardless, they're the greatest sound right from the USA!

My 1st assignment and I had the opportunity to hang out with a group of friends that went to shows and concerts all round Tokyo.

One of My Japanese buddies was an Emcee/DJ at a live house and he would use this song as one of the break tunes between sets

Had no idea who it was - Didn't even occur to me that it was a contemporary song.



I never stopped loving these guys since
