Great Gig in the Sky on the Theremin

I have never heard of this thing. I am blown away!

From Wikipedia.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin

The theremin (/ˈθɛrəmɪn/; originally known as the ætherphone/etherphone, thereminophone[2] or termenvox/thereminvox) is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer). It is named after its inventor, Léon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928.

The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas that sense the relative position of the thereminist's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker.

There was great movie in the 90s about the theremin. I think it was called Theremin: An Electric Odyssey. Worth watching just forthe footage of Brian Wilson talking about its influence on Good Vibrations.

I can't figure out how the player knows where the notes are. Must be by relative feel, as with a fretless bass?
