I'll guarantee one thing.
That guitar player is a Satriani nut.
It takes one to know one. And, I'm one of them!
My wife heard me listening to it and said "Is that something you recorded?"
That's how much he & I play alike, and clearly Satch is the reason!

Looks like he put 6 tuners on a bass' headstock, stung it with guitar strings and then put a capo where the nut on a regular size guitar would be.
