Only 10 spots, so I will have to prune her release list - let's say, up to Don Juan (I really didn't listen to much of her stuff after that one)

(60,013 posts)But Song to a Seagull, Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira are all up there for me too.
Also defines a particular time in my life - very nostalgic.

(2,642 posts)There is no "bad" Joni album, but I think on Don Juan she really hit a stride with more sophisticated orchestration and long-form pieces. It also benefitted by Jaco Pastorius in his prime, and dreamy poetry with many moods, the drumming on "Dreamland" and on and on.

(60,013 posts)I need to go back and listen to Don Juan - for whatever reason I did a pass on it long ago.
But there are no bad Joni albums, indeed!

(24,723 posts)I fell in love with her during her Clouds /Ladies of the Canyon/ Blue period - early-mid 70s.

(86,498 posts)Blue and Court and Spark. The earlier albums were wonderful but Blue was it until Court and Spark. Hissing of Summer Lawns would be and honorable mention.
