of whiskey in his hand and bitching about fashions while watching the Oscars last night. Russ Solomon died of a heart attack at the age of 92.

The record was released around June of 1980, and was re-issued by Artifix Records a number of years ago.

I remember shopping a Tower Records in Berkeley in the '70's. I got a lot of vinyl from the "cutout" bins. They'd punch a hole in a corner for stuff they wanted to get rid of. That was good for classical stuff and building a collection of orchestral standards. Not always the best performances, sound, or pressing, but I considered it part of my education.

I do remember buying cutouts there that cigarette ashes on the vinyl. But what the hell.

I *think* Tower was started in Sacramento, but I'd have to google that to be sure. I still have all that vinyl.
