Did you ever have a theme song? I mean a song that seemed connected to you

in a certain place, for a definite period of time?

The summer between my Jr and Sr year in high school seemed to feature this song.

It wasn't even a big hit but it was on the jukeboxes of all the places I went.

So along with a bunch of Kansas, Eagles, the Who and whatnot, I heard this song -often. Can't for the life of me figure out why this obscure song seemed to be playing so often that summer.

I bartended at a hole in the wall biker bar for a couple years and it seemed like this song was everywhere. It got played on the jukebox at least once a night. The bar was indeed full of whiskey and bad cocaine, and the nasty, oily groove fit the bar’s atmosphere.

block, as the song says. I didn't play guitar so good, but I did play for awhile.

Bat out of Hell was probably the huge album for my class of '79 crowd. Boston was a close second, but it had been out for quite awhile longer.

It was in the improv section. There were 4 songs on the list. Had to pick one of them, but didn't see the list until 10 minutes before our turn on stage. Had basic charts, just chord changes & the treble cleft.
Had to figure out substitutions, key changes, melodic embellishments in 10 minutes, with no practice.
Then, go on stage & do it.
I knew the song in my head pretty well, but that section of the competition is really hard.
And, we had to do it twice, if we made top 6.
I was 15 at the time, and I've always carried a fondness for that song. 49 years later!

I had a bilateral mastectomy and the reconstruction was so botched! I was in pain for 24/7 and at serious risk from the non-stop staph infections for 6 months. I thought I was going to die. My theme song was Lenny Kravitz's I Want to Get Away. I just sang that song over and over through my tears. It totally got unbearable, I fought with the doc several times, and I went to his office and forced his hand to remove the infected implant. I will often back down to keep the peace, but not this time, dealing with my 3rd infection. I refused to leave and started talking really loudly about how horrible this was anytime someone came for an appointment. After 1 person had left and the 2nd one looked like she was going to, they finally caved and I received the care I was so desperately needing.

I am a very stubborn and determined woman and I think I made it through on sheer willpower. You and the other good people on this board really helped me during those dark days, even when you didn't know it. Good to know you as well!!

Happy 4th.
