(8,584 posts)Especially the new released stripped down album. The original, plus so much Dylan kept me sane in the Navy. At least as sane as I think I may be🤔, Florida is loving Buckets of Rain right now. Went to see his child hood home in Hibbing Minn. and whoever lives there had the album cover of Blood on the Tracks painted on the Garage door.

(7,455 posts)He had help but he knew what he was doing in the studio, from backing instruments to sound engineering. Like a Rolling Stone was one of those songs tht really hits you at a certain time and place, for instance while all alone at a young age in a dirty bus station.

(21,922 posts)I cant stand his voice. His lyrics, however, are poetic genius. For me, the covers of his songs are better than his originals.
Just my opinion, of course.

(110,913 posts)album from CBS, "duck farts in a strong wind" was my assessment. My dad felt vindicated, Dylan had been introduced at a big CBS powwow and my dad couldn't believe this skinny kid from Hibbing, MN by way of NYC was going to amount to anything.
Then people started to cover his songs, and I started to listen to the words and gave that dusty album another hearing and became a fan. A lot of folkies got all pissed off when he went electric, but I thought that improved his voice, having to shout over the band made him lose a lot of the midwestern twang.
I saw him in concert a couple of years ago, mostly new material, darkened stage, and I think he was wearing a hair piece, although I can't be sure. It was still a fine concert. His voice isn't any better, but the lyrics get better all the time. He's gone back to Hibbing, musically, and lost a lot of that NYC edge, but that's OK.

(48,732 posts)I just don't like it very much, even though I love many of his songs.
I liked his singing best on his Nashville Skyline album, when he sang with a lower voice than usual:

(2,568 posts)Beautiful song, right? Sad thing is...I truly believed she loved him with all her heart. Him? Not so much. Great writer but full of himself to know what true love was all about back then. "You who are so good with words and at keeping things vague"
