I'm pretty sure he was always a defender of Russia/Soviets. But yeah I just remember that was my assessment and I'm talking in the 80's or 90's

It was tough to watch him on the Dark Side Of The Moon documentary, but I did, because the music is immortal and it was before he got all authoritarian.
Gilmour, on the other hand, just a joy to watch him interviewed, hear his perspective, see him play.
