I saw that lineup of Crimson in 84 and it broke my brain.

Pretty sure it was the "Beat" tour.
If there was a tighter band, I sure didn't hear one.
KC, Oingo Boingo, & Sting's Blue Turtles Band were the tightest I ever heard live.

I'd also add Peter Gabriel and Steely Dan - although it's been about 10 years since I've seen Dan - the lineups I saw in the 90s and early 00s with Keith Carlock on drums were amazing.

Nobody who plays with them is below A+ pro level.
I saw them really early, just before they bagged touring in the middle of their first tour.
Without Randall & Diaz, it wasn't stellar. Good, but not stellar.
When they resumed touring many years later, the people they had on stage were pros' pros. I can imag8ne they were great.

Usually it was Carlock. The guitarist they had, Jon Herrington is a suitable replacement for Diaz and Larry Carlton.
