(48,895 posts)I've been around a long time.
One of the replies in that thread I posted mentioned that 1992 had been their first election.
My first was 24 years earlier, in 1968, and I'm counting that as the first (even though I couldn't vote yet) since I saw Bobby Kennedy give a speech, was heartbroken when he was assassinated, then still motivated myself to work at state Democratic headquarters that fall. But 4 years before that my junior high class was told to write political speeches for LBJ or Humphrey, and the one I wrote for LBJ was read to the class, and 4 years before that I was arguing for Kennedy with my classmates who supported Nixon. Can't remember what I was doing in 1956.
Anyway, it's probably easier to remember who wrote a song if you were in your 20s or older when it came out. Which you weren't. It's cool that you know so much about Fleetwood Mac. I don't recall paying much attention to who'd written a song when I was really young.
And you're probably right that most people don't know she wrote this song.
I was watching GMA this morning when they did a story on Christine, and it really got to me when they had Bill Clinton's message about using that song for his 1992 campaign, how honored he was that they'd entrusted that song to him. Such a different attitude than Trump, who keeps using songs after artists tell him to stop.
