Question about electric organ.

Yeah, I know. But I inherited it from my rich uncle and it is/was a beautiful instrument and would be fun to have. As I am told, it was fully functioning just two months ago. Now it lights up but there is no sound, and I am told that it might be a fuse.

Can someone just give me a rough idea of what a house call for this organ might cost?

That would be very kind of you. I honestly don't know where I am going to put it in my apartment, but it is very beautiful and was an expensive instrument, and I used to have a lesser electric organ but gave it up in a cross-country move. I miss that. I don't know if it would cost a hundred bucks or five hundred bucks to service. And I can't afford five hundred.

3. if I look at it ... two things ...

1) No labor charge ... I troubleshoot elsewhere for a living.

2) We may not readily find it ... If the fault didn't leave a physical defect like a burned component, or an obvious scent of 'burned electronics', then we would have to go to the next step, which is locate a schematic ... In any case, you would only have to pay for the parts and docs (if necessary) ...

If you look around the instrument, you will find a manufacturer's label with a manufacturer name and a model number. Using that info, there are quite a few schematics and service docs available online ... Let me know and I will check around ...

4. so far this is what I know

It's a Conn Starmaker. I know that much for now. I did read a message board where people were talking about them, and hope it is just a matter of contacts getting dirty. I haven't gotten it yet; waiting to gather enough family members to move the thing into a pickup and out of a pickup. One has jury duty, another has a knee injury...LOL.
