Around and Around - Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzman, Bob Weir...well, they just know how to keep the rhythm....it's like Elvis and Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash all dropped at the same point in our musical history...this is what the end result would have been.

Yeah...this is Kreutzmann at his very best. 1973, folks...this is what a rhythm band was all about...I can say these guys were the gold standard, in my mind.

Going Down the Road Feeling Bad...Woody Guthrie would have approved....cuz he wrote it.

Thought I saw them in the Fall of 72, but it must have been in April of 73 - the Wall of Sound was, well, friggen' awesome. Here's a cut - Big River - https://listentothedead.com/1973/4/2-2/big-river

Drop 2 tabs of Mescaline...it took me 3 hours after the concert to get my bearings straight.

...I agree they were at the height of their performance powers through this period of time.

I went to several Dead shows through the 70s, after that, not again.

I guess I moved on from the Dead because I went into punk rock, with my own punk band (and several others since - punk, psychedelic punk, alternative, experimental, and now indie/americana or whatever). We have a song called "Old MacDonald's Pharmacy" which is sorta Dead inspired.

Cuz every Dead show ended (mostly) with thusly:

Lay down my dear brother, lay down and take your rest,
Won't you lay your head upon your savior's chest,
I love you all, but Jesus loves you the best
And we bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight.

I would never ride, well, I would never ride (goodnight, goodnight)
But His rod and His staff, they comfort me (goodnight, goodnight)
Tell "A" for the ark, that wonderful boat (goodnight, goodnight)
Tell "B" for the beast at the ending of the wood (goodnight, goodnight)
You know it ate all the children when they wouldn't be good,
Walking in Jerusalem just like John (goodnight, goodnight)
I go walking in the valley of the shadow of death,
And we bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight.

I've heard nothing in the last 30 years that really impresses me...shit is all derivative. But you sound, oddly, different. Good for you. I need to some psychoactive vitamins and I'm sure I will like your sound even more. In the meantime.....keep playing awesomely!

What are you playing? The sonics are superb on this. Fuck it, I'm a capitalist at heart and I'll support you with buying your music. It's pretty fuckin...different...like the Dead.l

...glad ya like it.

I'm the drummer/percussionist, and, along with my friend of over 25 years, A.J. (songwriter/guitarist/vocalist), co-engineer/producer.

The band is Green Sparkle Frog, the CD is called Die Happy & Other Songs About Life, and you may purchase it through our web site at http://www.greensparklefrog.com.

PM for special instructions and I'll do a "buy one, get one free" deal for you.

The transaction is done through PayPal.

You can also hear the CD at Spotify.com, and it's for sale at iTunes, Amazon, CD Universe, CD Baby, and other places on the web I can't recall.

But you'll get the best deal through our web site.
