1. I thought jacaranda was an animal, but maybe I'm thinking of jaguarundi.
It's beautiful anyhow, wish we could grow more flashy flowers in these parts.

2. Glad you enjoyed it, and it's most definitely a plant, my dear Ocelot II!
They grow all over Los Angeles and many neighborhoods have rows of them as they meet over the tops of the streets! Magnificent sight!

5. Eucalypti
But nothing compares to the Coral Eucalypti on San Vicente Boulevard.

Nice pic!

I had forgotten about the Jacarandas. I miss that messy purple carpet all over the streets.

18. I don't recall seeing them, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention.
I'll be on the lookout. Seems that I should have seen one in the bay area. In the foothills now.

20. I love these trees..
I have a gorgeous Royal Poinciana in my back yard with bright red/orange blooms. They’re from the same family of trees, I understand. Both start to bloom here in south Florida every May. Thanks for this beautiful photo.

22. Jacaranda are my favorite trees. Intense purple blossoms above & a carpet of purple below...
Very popular in Santa Barbara County, especially right along the coast. My former neighborhood in Goleta had a tunnel of jacaranda right around the corner from my house.
My daughter used to complain about getting sticky purple feet on the way to elementary school, but I thought that was a wussy complaint, given the tropical specimens at University of Hawai’i, my alma mater. There was something there that dropped huge seed pods that would glue themselves to my sandals and were quite difficult to scrape off. Give me purple rain… |

24. I get that with manzanita
"Little Apples" in Spanish.
When the berries (about 1 cm?) ripen, they get sticky, all several million of them. No mercy for the shoes. I get clouds of bees when they are blooming, which feels like all year, though it obviously isn't. A constant buzz, all over the property. |
