The hardest part of the contests is choosing your entry. This was another pic that I thought about entering. This was the view out my truck window in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California. I like the "picture in picture" nature of it. By the way, a sharp eye can spot Mount Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48 states, left of center in this shot.

(16,357 posts)In addition to the "picture in picture" aspect, there's a "layered" effect to the image that feels almost 3D. The blue sky, the layers of tall rugged mountains and smaller hills, the expanse of desert, and the truck mirror in the foreground, are all so full of detail that I almost feel like I could fall into this photo.
