One of my childhood friends lives there. I've only ever been in winter, so I'll be curious to head up this summer.
Enjoy, it's such a great country!

Yup, looks like Scotland, all right. Somehow it always seems on the dark mysterious side!

Beautiful photos!

Thanks for sharing them.

More sun than clouds/rain. It was much nicer up there a couple of weeks ago than it has been the last few days in England.

As we approached the Moors I was overwhelmed with emotion. I stopped the car and got out to really enjoy the view.

I said to my partner - I have come home.

At that time I did not yet know that I had indeed come home.

I wanted to move there but could not figure out a way to make a living so it did not happen.

Except I studied here for a year and got a visa extension (and hired by the Law School where I studied). It requires me to make big life decisions (like quit a decent tenured job at a university here).

But I couldn’t have done any of it without taking a year to study.

I know the feeling of emotion you had. The first time I landed in Ireland I sobbed like an idiot. I was the first of my family to return since the 1910s.

The crypt downstairs was supposedly where the Holy Grail was hidden (IIRC), and whether that's true or not, it's a location that is steeped in an atmosphere of mystery and awe.

Those images really take the mind to another place. And another time. Right away I go to “how’d they do that?”

Standing in York Minster, I was just blown away (happens every time I go to a Gothic cathedral). It's awe-inspiring.

be on the lookout for Highland Cattle. They are so cute.
My fav Scottish breed is the Belted Galloway. It is sometimes called the Oreo cow.
Like chimney sweeps... spotting one or more will bring you good luck.

There is a herd of Belted Galloways about 40 miles from my house. Some days I just drive out to that farm, pull in the barnyard and walk down the fencerow to look at them. The family is used to me coming in the yard so they just wave and go on.

There’s some on a farm along I-70 in central PA.

My first trip to the Highlands,I made my friend pull over at a random farm because some “coos” were at the fence. Heilan’ coos are adorable.
