If the sky is clear go look. Really beautiful. And take some shots.
(wishing I had a nice long lens).

That and my work schedule often does not allow. To bed by 7pm is disruptive to parts of life.

Not bad for a shot from the front yard with my 200mm kit lens, I guess. I should take better advantage of the unreal starry skies here and practice (learn) more night photography.

I wasn't shooting manually. The moon was so high it was really awkward. I was trying to use my tripod, but I'm too tall. I ended up walking out to the street and bracing myself against the very frosty roof of my Jeep.

I'll have to play around with it a lot more. In the summer.

I set my timer to 2 or 10 seconds depending on how cold it is.

Winter has clearer air, but you have to allow your lenses to acclimate. I learned that from my big tele. It took a few minutes for the heat to dissipate. You can see the waves.

Impressive pics and impressed you were out in the cold to get them.
Thank you for sharing these.

I've got an 8" Celestron, and I can't get anything near this type of detail. The moon looks like this through mine...I've been able to pull in Jupiter and Saturn but like I said, not with this kind of clarity.
