The sad news is that I lost about 490 shots when transferring a card to my external drive. I'm not quite sure how it happened. I've tried recovering them, but no luck. It was only three or four mushers' arrivals, but absolutely some of my best shots. I've reconciled my loss in my conscious mind, but I've been dreaming about those missing photos since we got back Wednesday night.

before the next big photo adventure. My Picture Porter, which is old, only has 40 GB space and I had filled it up, as I mentioned in another post. I thought I had kept the overflow photos on the card and deleted the ones that had downloaded successfully, but somehow I must have screwed that up ... Not too surprising given the lack of sleep.

I'll just post more photos of those mushers at the beginning of the race to make up for not having them at the end, but I do feel bad about it, especially that Russian with his beautiful Chukchi Siberians. Those were some gorgeous shots in phenomenal light.

Oh, well.
