It's always enlightening to see an artists process, his intent. It was also interesting to be brought back to a time of 36 well thought out exposures in a time where people shoot hundreds of exposures in a, some of it has to stick to the wall, style.

I also found Mr. Klein's affinity with surrealism interesting with his mention of "ready-made's" a direct reference to Duchamp and certainly illustrated with his costume party shots, the refocused prints and the shots of Butoh performers in Japan.

His fashion work absolutely broke the mold especially when he would place models in active public spaces.

He had a retrospective of his work recently at the Howard Greenberg Gallery that I'm really glad I got to see and certainly illustrated his rule breaking talent.
