(11,791 posts)This picture haunted the hell out of me. It reminded me of a painting my dad had in our den back when I was a very little girl (like 30 years ago). I would love to buy a print for him.
Great job hosting ground loop

(22,380 posts)I loved the second and third winners JCMach1 for "Mirage" and RichardD "Once a Boat" very much.
I think this may be the first time my own favorites exactly paralleled my preferences for numbers 1- 2- and three.
The train is one of the most magnificent shots I've seen around here, and I am so very happy it won!
Congratulations. How in the hell did you do that, MzPip?

This is a photo of the steam train that runs from Skagway Alaska up to Whitehorse. It's a great trip if anyone gets the chance to take it.
As for how I did it. It was originally a color photo. I made it sepia and cropped it square. I wanted to do sepia since it made it look more old time.

(31,381 posts)My boys were crazy for trains when they were kids. I can't tell you how I searched and searched
for photos of old steam engines! I just love the shot!

(46,436 posts)We nearly killed our truck in May making that climb up from Skagway. I believe it climbs from sea level to 3200 feet or something in about 12 miles. I could be off a little, but it's quite a climb. I've never done the train.

Nicely presented.
Deserved the win.
Mz Pip, I'd like to see the original. Really.
