We live in the woods--not far from downtown Chapel Hill--and have a growing problem with deer. This morning when Snowy--my rescue dog--and I went out for our daily 7 a.m. walk--there were five deer hanging out on the hill across from our driveway.
Four of them were lying down and one was not far off, nibbling tree greens. No way would Snowy stand still to let me take photos (which she will often do on our walks for flowers/trees, etc). But they were still there 45 minutes later! So back in the house she went and I grabbed my camera to take these shots.

(3,586 posts)They are beautiful, but can be a nuisance! We had deer quite frequently in the yard of our former house....one night, a big buck was blocking our satellite signal while we were watching television - we were wondering why the signal kept cutting out LOL (our dish was mounted on a pole) My husband went out to shoo it away, but it was there with a female and a young deer, obviously the buck's family. He stood, rooted in place and wouldn't move for the longest time LOL

(31,320 posts)to keep the deer out and screened over the top to keep out the squirrels, too!
After I took these shots I came in and headed for the shower. When I got out, hubby
told me he had seen one deer come down the steps in the hill beside our driveway--headed for
the cherry tree that they've been nibbling! He came out--not 10 feet away--and roared at it.
Damn deer stood right there and just looked at him. LOL. Crazy humans!

(46,436 posts)but they're such beautiful animals.
They really are gorgeous animals. We
have them where I live too. I hate that
we are taking away or forcing them out of their territory.
Beautiful pictures. My son lives there too.
