But while trying to 'cheat' I found this kool site:

I recall seeing, somewhere, they had all these people from movies using cameras in the movie. Damn if I can find it now though.

I don't have this camera. Been looking for it. Love using old cameras.

Good quality old rangefinders are still quite expensive for what you get because collectors drive up the prices. The older ones that are somewhat reasonable typically have no TTL metering which is a pain because carrying around a meter kind of defeats the purpose of a compact camera.

A good rangefinder to start with is a new Voigtlander Bessa R series (the newer ones, not the older ones). In fact, if you get one you'll probably be spoiled by features like aperture priority and exposure compensation and may never want to give up those features. The advantage to the R2A is you can start accumulating screw mount lenses which will work with a variety of the older rangefinders should you choose to go back in time with an older body. I think Voigtlander also made a model that accepts Nikon lenses, but I'm not sure if they are still available new.

As much as I love Nikon stuff, I don't think I'd want to get into a Nikon rangefinder. There's still a lot of lenses for them on the used market, but all of the Nikon rangefinder stuff that's worth having is expensive and it locks you into Nikon lenses, plus you don't get TTL metering which for me is a non-starter for a shooter unless it's something like medium format.

a higher priority. Right now I have M42 lenses, no M39's. (Industar 50-2 50mm 3.5, Yashinon 50mm 1.7, K Mart 28mm 2.8, and Suntar 135mm 2.8)

I could probably find a Pentax Spotmatic body that would take my lenses.

BTW, I added an old photo to the page you linked.

The reason I like Nikon SLRs is because there's a lot of great lenses out there on the used market (I have a big drawer full of them). Unless you buy a Leica and only use a 50mm lens, you are more likely to have more money tied up in lenses than bodies.

The Oly EPL5 or the Panasonic G6 bodies might be where I go next. The Oly has a better sensor, but that only matters to pixel peepers.

My camera du jour is a Topcon Super D. (old Vietnam War favorite) Got it with a 100mm, extension tubes, and case for $40.00. I'm on my 3rd roll of film. Very nice camera.

shopgoodwill.com is still a good place to find cameras. I usually get out bid but every so often I get a good deal.

feels right for me, and I find it hard to change. That 30 acts like a 60mm on my M 4/3. It's almost long enough to be a portrait lens, and short enough to be a good walkaround lens. The Industar 50-2 was my go to lens for a long time.

Used IMDB anyway, I just kinda took a guess with The Prisoner because I knew it fit in the timeline and had a little person in it so when that wasn't it I knew I was 1 Oompa down.
