(5,113 posts)took almost 600 last night and only about 20 were keepers.
its amazing how fast they move and how fast their wings beat. even 1/1600 of a sec wasnt quick enough to freeze the wings

(40,656 posts)my dad's favorite bird. the day he died, I went home and sort of stood there vibrating in the new paradigm, then saw bills on the counter. I opened the first one, junk mail and pictures of hummingbirds fell out of it. No coincidences. Hummingbirds are holy to me.

(153,150 posts)I find hummingbirds fascinating, although I am still peeved at the one who flew into my bf's garage, forcing us to spend 15 minutes in extreme heat (it was 106 degrees outside) chasing the little bloke around to get it outside so we could close the door

these flying little jewels! We bought a little bird swing (like you would put in a bird cage) this summer and hung it on the deck. To our amazement one little hummer used it quite often. She would sit there and watch for other hummers. If they got too close the chase was on!!

(2,012 posts)One time I stayed at a place in Costa Rica where thousands of hummingbirds came, probably 50 species, every color, every size and took turns feeding. Recently I viewed the PBS show on hummingbirds taken from the tropics to the Arctic. They never cease to amaze and make us want to save this wonderful planet.

(22,380 posts)especially that fourth one. All I can say is "Damn" fine job about that!
On that fourth one, I would love to see a little more free, negative space, around the bird. Is is available?
What a great accomplishment!
