Last night I photographed some slides from 1968 - 1969

I cannibalized a defunct scanner to get the opaque light table glass, used the slide holder, my camera, tripod, extension tubes, and a cfl desk light to capture the images.

Original images taken with a Pentax Spotmatic, Kodachrome and Agfachrome film.

Considering their age these look great. Digital is wonderful and all but there's just something about film... I'm listening to Coltrane right now and it just seems to fit somehow.

A digital sensor. At least I don't seem to have destroyed the film character by converting them.

But after watching many "pros" mess up basic rules, there is something to a natural eye. It's the j'ne se qua of it. Training helps, and it helps a lot. You need to know the rules before you break them, if you know what I mean. But there is this eye for it as well.
